State Auditor Glen B. Gainer, III, Director

Glen B. Gainer, III was elected West Virginia’s 19th State Auditor in November 1992 and re-elected November 1996, 2000 and 2004. Auditor Gainer earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Charleston, and attended the Washington Center for Learning.
As State Auditor, he serves as the State’s official bookkeeper, Chief Inspector and Supervisor over Public Offices, Securities Commissioner, and Commissioner of Delinquent and Non-entered Lands; Administers Social Security for employees of State and political subdivisions.
Auditor Gainer serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National White Collar Crime Center; Vice President National Electronic Commerce Coordinating Council; Treasurer Electronic Authentication Partnership (EAP) Board; Member of the Law Enforcement Intelligence Forum (LEIF); Serves on North American Securities Administrators Association Investor Education Section Committee; Past President of the National Association of State Comptrollers; Executive Committee member of the National Association of State Auditor’s Comptrollers and Treasurers; Vice-Chairman of the West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board; Trustee on the West Virginia Investment Management Board and is Chairman of its Audit Committee; President of the West Virginia Jump Start Coalition; and serves as Chairman on the Interstate Commerce Appeals Board. Auditor Gainer also serves as a member of the Board of Public Works, as well as several other State Boards and Commissions; and was listed in Who’s Who in American Politics. Additionally, Auditor Gainer is active in local church and community activities.
